Celadon Square Arita Ware (28005)

A simple celadon incense burner. Celadon is a type of porcelain with a bluish ash glaze.
Long ago, a Chinese emperor created it artificially after much effort in order to enjoy the flavor of jade through porcelain.
In Japan, celadon ore was discovered in what is now Okawauchiyama, Imari City, during the Edo period, and it continues to be fired today as Nabeshima celadon.
Celadon comes in a variety of colors, from nearly white to greenish.
