Amacha Incense “A Buddhist Offering” (No. 1)
— A fragrance filled with kindness and sincerity —
This incense set from Awaji Baikundo features five carefully selected fragrances:
Amacha-kou Shoujou (Purifying)
Amacha-kou Chikutan (Bamboo Charcoal)
Amacha-kou Nyuwa (Gentle)
Amacha-kou Jihi (Compassion)
Amacha-kou Jinkoh (Agarwood)
Founded on Awaji Island in 1905, Awaji Baikundo has continued making incense with the belief that
“Offering fragrance is the same as offering beautiful flowers.”
Inspired by the tradition of Hanamatsuri (April 8)—celebrating the birth of Buddha, when sweet tea is poured over a Buddha statue—this incense expresses the gentle aroma of amacha (sweet hydrangea tea) as a beloved offering to Buddha, and as a comforting fragrance that brings peace to the hearts of one’s ancestors.
Perfect for daily memorial prayers, offerings at the home altar, and seasonal occasions such as Obon and Ohigan, this soft scent gently fills the space of prayer with gratitude and calm.
