Kunjudo Japanese Gardens Tearoom 30 sticks (1304)

This series explores and expresses through fragrance the distinctive atmosphere and aesthetic sensibility of the many styles of the Japanese garden: the pond garden, the stone garden, the moss garden, the tea garden and the bonsai garden.

The tea garden is formed by the roji, the path leading to the tea house, expressing the ideal of a mountain retreat within the city in the spirit of wabi-sabi. Beyond the middle gate, simple garden trees stand alongside a stone lantern and a tsukubai water basin, and stepping stones draw the visitor toward the tea room. Regarded as a path outside the floating world that separates the tea room from everyday life, it is a place where, for a brief moment, one purifies oneself, settles the mind and straightens the back.

Matcha blends with the hushed aroma of trees, woven together with the sandalwood burned to welcome guests, evoking the space of the tea ceremony.
