Celadon incense burners are popular for their simple, rounded shape. Celadon is a type of porcelain with a bluish ash glaze.
Long ago, a Chinese emperor laboriously created it artificially in order to enjoy the flavor of jade through porcelain.
In Japan, celadon ore was discovered in what is now Okawauchiyama, Imari City, during the Edo period, and it continues to be fired today as Nabeshima celadon.
