Shoyeido Incense Burner Sometsuke Shippo (Blue-and-White Cloisonné Pattern) (714513)

A fine Nabeshima ware porcelain incense burner, decorated with a densely painted shippo (cloisonné) motif in traditional blue-and-white (sometsuke). The lid features a shishi (lion-dog) knob.

This versatile incense burner can be used in several ways:

Filled with ash to hold incense sticks

For burning kneaded incense (nerikō) or pressed incense (inkō)

For soradaki (indirect heating) of incense woods

Note: It is recommended to remove the metal lid (hiya) during use. Keeping the lid on may restrict airflow inside the burner and cause the incense to extinguish.
