Kariroku is originally the name of a deciduous tree native to Southeast Asia. Its fruit has medicinal properties and was believed to ward off evil spirits.
This carefully crafted piece imitates its shape and is filled with scented incense. Enjoy it as a room decoration.
It is made of pure silk brocade fabric woven in Nishijin, Kyoto, in a "kari"-shaped pouch, finished with a "karachō" (Chinese butterfly) knot of pure silk braided cord.
